What is the SIVASH-Healing Sea Mud?
SIVASH-Sea Mud is an effective peloid (marine mud), which has formed in the highly concentrated brine of the pink salt lake Sivash and is a complex physical-chemical dynamic system. Because of the physical-chemical properties the SIVASH-Sea Mud belongs to the salt-containing sulfide-poor chloride-magnesium-sodium peloids. In addition to the valuable minerals it contains certain organic substances and has a slight hydrogen sulfide odor.
Due to the rare and unique conditions of origin the SIVASH-Sea Mud is one of the best peloids of the world.
Sivash-Sea Mud is manually removed from the lake, unchanged, only topped with the pink brine of Sivash lake, airtight packaged without preservatives. So it reaches the user in their most natural form. The high concentration of salt protects the marine mud from contamination in a natural way. The pink color of the brine owes to the high concentration of the microalgae Dunaliella Salina, which itself is very valuable and rich in beta-carotene. For its own protection in the concentrated brine algae produces many carotenoids, especially beta-carotene.
SIVASH-Sea mud is used for the peloid therapy in supportive treatment in the cases described above. The peloid therapy, the treatment with mud (silt), as a kind of balneotherapy, belongs to the most effective methods of natural healing. The main positive features of the peloid are the specific environmental conditions at the Sivash lake, especially the origin of marine silt in the highly concentrated pink brine and the fact that the peloid is present in the ready form in nature and must not be prepared. So, for example, the author of the book "Lehmdoktors Fibel" Carsten Pohl writes: "... Some authors report that the recently mined moist clay, applied directly, acts better than the dried and again moistened clay."
Overview of characteristics
Dark gray sulfide-containing marine mud with a slight hydrogen sulfide odor. Density: 1.6 g/cm3, moisture by weight: about 41-42%, pH: 7.1 to 7.3 approx (neutral to slightly alkaline reaction), contamination with particles > 0.25 mm: about 0.5-0.7%, tack: about 1.1 to 1.3 kPa, sliding resistance: approximately from 0.6 to 0.8 kPa, mineral content of the sludge solution: approximately 173-300 g/l (salinity of the ocean is 30 g/l, Dead sea water 320 g/l), magnesium content of the sludge solution: 8 g/l (Dead sea water about 1.3 g/l), calcium content of the sludge solution: about 0.8 g/l (Dead sea water about 0.5 g/l).
Mode of action of SIVASH-Therapeutic Mud
SIVASH-Sea Mud is a good heat accumulator and can be applied hot or cold as peloid pack. The body has to compensate the difference in temperature, that starts the healing process. In warm applications of marine mud the heat is released slowly and gently to the skin and it comes to warming not only the upper but also the deeper layers of the body.
During drying of the sea mud a suction effect occurs on the skin pores. The pores open, the pollutants, sebum and impurities are removed. The skin can now be better supplied with oxygen and nutrients.
Due to the fine structure of the marine mud it occurs during application of the peloid on the skin to mechanical irritation of the skin surface. This leads to the therapeutic increase in blood flow and activation of sweating. The skin flakes and horn formations are removed in a gentle manner. This reduces the itching. The mud particles remove the fat and bacterias, they clean the skin and release the pores. A better own functions of the skin will be possible.
By the ion exchange the SIVASH sea mud enriches skin with additional minerals.
The healing mud has a mineral character, with a major proportion of chloride, sodium and magnesium ions. Thereby the high magnesium content (4 g/l) and the low calcium content (0,4 g/l) play the most important role. With the penetration of the minerals the missed magnesium salts get in to psoriatic skin, it occurs the abatement of symptoms such as itching. Thereby the magnesium ions are capable to replace the calcium ions from their binding sites. This effect is known from the treatment of skin diseases in the Dead Sea. The magnesium content in the Dead Sea water is also high (1,3 g/l) at the low calcium content (0,5 g/l).
The SIVASH sea mud is applied externally cold or warm. Thermal procedures (38-42 °C) are recommended for chronic diseases of the bones, joints and spine. Generally, the cold / warm hand-test may be performed: If the cold hand on the affected area is more comfortable than the warm, than must the healing clay be applied cold.
The warming healing clay should be carried out indirectly, preferably in a water bath. Very high temperatures and microwave radiation have a negative effect on the biochemical substance of the healing clay and reduce its therapeutic properties.
The healing clay can also be applied cold and heating takes place by an external source such as hot water bottle or heating pad.
Treatments should be done ideally in the evening, because the healing clay continue developing its qualities after the treatment and the body should then be in a resting phase.
In the treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system as well as acne (not on the face), the treatment site should be covered after application of the healing clay with a film or a wet sarong. Then, put on a dry towel and a warm blanket.
In eczema, psoriasis and acne on the face treatment, the application site of the healing clay is not covered.
The duration of treatment varies and depends on the disease or the purpose of the application. For short treatments SIVASH-sea mud remains 10-30 minutes (for example: till dry up the healing clay), for longer treatments 30-60 minutes long and by the well compatibility 90 minutes on the application site. After treatment, wash the healing mud off with warm water.
Tip: We recommend to take the required amount of healing clay with a sufficiently large strip on clingfilm from the box and then form the film as a bag. Put the bag in warm water with temperature about 60 °C until the healing clay has reached the right temperature. Apply the sea mud directly from the film to the skin and cover the place with this foil.
Before the first treatment, we recommend to apply the healing clay 2-3-times to the soles of the feet for 10 minutes. This helps the body get used to the healing clay.
Examples of application of therapeutic mud

Wash the silt after 30-40 minutes with warm water off.
The treatment should be carried out in the evening before going to sleep, every day or every second day. Duration of treatment: 8-12 days.
